FACTORYVILLE YOUTH CLAYS SCHOLASTIC TEAM PLACES AT STATE SHOOT 

Traveling over 300 miles one way, two youth teams from our club placed in a state shoot at the Nemacolin Shooting Academy in Berlin, PA.  The shoot involved over 140 youth shooters from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and New Jersey. 

The annual state shoot was held on Saturday June 19th 2010, and our club had two teams entered in the event. One team consisting of Jimmy Lyons(72), Kyle Hegedty(51), and Casey Deaton(39) placed 5th out of nine teams in their class. 

The second team placed 8th consisted of Jericho Hendershot(42), James Labelle(40), and Justin Ganser(43) 

The youth will continue to practice on Club course with practices scheduled for July 28th and August 11th at 6 PM. Their next scheduled shoot is on August 14th which is the pre-lim for the Clubs annual Coors shoot. After the Coors Shoot a cook out will be held for the youth team at the horseshoe pit.  

The coaches for the youth team are John Hegedty, head coach, George Hegedty, Butch Gorko, Phil McCarthy, and Chet Layaou, assistant coaches. 

The team appreciates the support and encouragements they have received from Club members and also having the Club provide practice targets.

CLUB YOUTH SCHOLASTIC CLAYS TEAM PLACES AT REGISTERED SPORTING CLAYS SHOOT 

Rookie team places first, junior varsity team’s finish 3rd and 4th…. 

WELLSVILLE, YORK COUNTY…..with a steady wind all day, the Club’s youth scholastic clays team shot very well in a registered shoot held at Central Penn Sporting Clays, York County on Saturday May 8th 2010. 

The rookie team consisting of Hunter Vandorich, Justin Ganser, and Kyle Grahek (from the California, PA team due to a squad shortage) took a first place in the rookie division, marking the second year the rookie team finished in the top two places. 

The junior varsity team consisting of Jimmy Lyons, George Schwartz, and Kyle Hegedty, earned a third place finish after a second place finish as rookies in last years tournament. 

A third team consisting of Jerico Hendershot, Casey Deaton, and James LaBelle took a fourth place in the junior varsity division. 

The coaches this year are once again, John Hegedty, George Hegedty, Butch Gorko, Phil McCarthy and Chet Layaou. 

The team can be seen practicing on the sporting clays course Wednesdays and Sundays along with teammates Greg Tracy and Matt Mecca who were unable to make the trip to Central Penn.  

The youth scholastic team wants to thank those who have donated ammo for their practices and tournaments. The team can always use 12 and 20 gauge ammo in support of their program. Their next tournament shoot is June 19th at the Nemacolin Shooting Academy

FACTORYVILLE SPORTSMAN CLUB YOUTH TEAM TAKES SECOND PLACE AT STATE SHOOT

 

A youth team of sporting clay shooters from the Factoryville Sportsman Club, took second place in their class at the state wide youth sporting clays shoot. The competitive event was held a the White Tail Shooting Preserve and Sporting Clays course near Bloomsburg, PA on June 20th. Despite an all day steady downpour, the youth team completed the 100 clay bird shooting event along with over 110 others shooters from around the state. The event is held every year to encourage youth to engage in shooting sports. This was the first year that Factoryville Sportsman Club sponsored a team. The team consisted of Jimmy Lyons, Kyle Hegedty, George Schwartz, and Jericho Hendershot, all 12 years old.   The boys all received metals for their finish and a buffet lunch. Coaches for the team were Josh Hess, Phil McCarthy, John Hegedty,   George Hegedty,  Ron Gorko, Al Vasky, and George Kessler.  Thank you to all that donated equipment,  time,  or money to make this a successful year.  The Club will be sponsoring another team next year. Practice begins in April at the Club grounds. Interested parties should contact the Club at 378-2593.
